This portion of my blog serves the purpose of documenting my engagement, understanding and learning in my EDCI 414 course in relation to the course goals.

This blog is my chosen format for my Portfolio of Learning where I will collect evidence of my engagement with each course goal.

The 9 course goals are:

  • Develop a personal approach to teaching social studies
  • Explain the purpose and value of First Peoples’ Principles of Learning
  • Describe the goals, competencies, and big ideas of the revised social studies curriculum
  • Design unit and lesson plans that combine curricular competencies and content in creative, thoughtful, and engaging ways
  • Apply strategies that support diverse learners & classrooms
  • Outline the process of inquiry learning in Social Studies
  • Integrate assessment strategies that enhance student learning
  • Identify how historical thinking strategies promote critical literacy
  • Evaluate how participatory citizenship leads to deeper engagement with social justice issues
